NORTHAMPTON FRIDAY NIGHT MIXED DARTS LEAGUE

LEAGUE RULES 2024

THE TEAM

  • A team shall consist of a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 12 players per match. Including a minimum of 1 lady player
  • A team must submit a registration form with a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 15 players before the season starts. Including a minimum of 1 lady player with the Captain and Secretary’s details.
  • A team must not exceed 15 players signed on for each season.
  • All teams must pay the £50 registration fee before the start of the season.
  • A team can register players on the match night is short.
  • Players may only play for one team per season but maybe registered to more, you become cup tied once you have a play a game for that team.
  • No transfer of players is allowed once played for a team in a league or cup game. Unless exceptional circumstance arises and then this will be at the committee’s discretion, whose ruling is final.

THE LEAGUE

  • The League will comprise of 2 section of 8 teams where possible
  • As in the first season of 2 sections the sections we be based as follows

                        The 8 tops from last season will form the A section

                        The bottom 5 plus 3 new teams will form the B section

  • Any new team joining the league with enter in the bottom section
  • Promotion and relegation will be 2 up and 2 down

THE BOARD AND OCHE

  • Recommended boards: Winmau, Unicorn, Nodor or Harrows.  These are to be diamond wire blade (i.e. Blade 6) or of a professional standard.
  • The board needs to be 5ft 8ins from the bull centre to the floor level.
  • The throw needs to be 7ft 9¼ ins from the front of the board to the back of the oche.
  • Raised oche’s at least 1 inch in height are a requirement of the league.  The committee suggest use of ‘oches r us’ where needed.
  • The lighting should be adequate to light the whole dartboard.  The committee suggest the use of a halo or similar where needed.

THE GAME

  • Teams should be at the venue by 7.45pm for toe to oche at 8.00pm (No later starting than 8.30pm).  
  •  Play 6 singles – First player to get 2 legs gets 1 point
  •  Play 3 doubles – Play all 3 legs. Each leg gets 1 point
  •  Winning teams will get 2 points for the win. Legs will be counted at the end of the season if teams are level on points
  • The drawing method for the order of play is now a “ Blind Draw” for the whole game

      Your will present to the opposing team captain 6 cards with the players you wish to play in that round (i.e singles or pairs)

      Present these cards face down to the opposing team captain so they can not see the names written on them, shuffle them on the surface then ask the opposing captain to start picking.

      Write down on your side of the score sheet the order of you players as they are picked.

      If picked 1st then they play 1st etc

       If you have players that other commitments and need to leave early or coming late , please advise the opposing captain of these and reschedule those games in those instances . These requests should not be unreasonably refused.

  • There should be no discussion/suggestion between captains on the placement of the lady player in the playing order. Either in singles or doubles
  • Players names are to be entered on the score sheet fully and clearly in BLOCK CAPITALS, and the score sheet must be signed by both Captains at the end of the game.
  • Players to throw alternatively with the away team to throw first.
  • No player throws 2 consecutive throws, only in the cross over between doubles and singles.
  • Captains must ensure their players are ready to play their game.
  • No player to stand on or over the oche.
  • The Caller shall be the official in charge of the game, what the Caller shouts will be final.  Corrections to mathematical errors on the score board must be made before the player’s next throw.
  • Darts to be left in the board until the Caller has shouted the score, once removed the Caller’s score will stand.
  • The point of the dart must be in contact with the board in order for the score on that dart to stand.
  • Computer based scoring can be used, as long as it can be seen from the oche and has a record of previous scores.
  • Score sheets to be posted on the league’s Facebook page in the comments of that week’s fixture post.  If no members of the team are on Facebook, the score sheet can be sent to the League Secretary.
  • Games must be played on the dates according to the league fixtures there is no catch-up nights if you cannot field a team on your designated fixture you forfeit the game.

FORFEITURES

  • A game can be played with a team of 4/5 players, but that team will lose 1 double (3 legs) and 1 singles game.  Should this occur, the un-played games are to be the last games in the doubles and singles.
  • When playing with a reduced team the player of the opposite gender must be played in the scoring games and not a claimed game.
  • If a player of the opposite gender is unavailable the game is unfortunately forfeited
  • Any game that is claimed will be a 15-0 win to the claiming team.
  • Any abuse or misconduct against players or committee members may result in the person being brought in front of the committee and sanctions imposed.
  • Procedure for forfeiting a game as follows:
    • The captain of the team forfeiting the game must inform the opposing team and League Secretary or Committee Member.
    • Any team wishing to claim a game must consult with the Committee and abide by the Committee’s decision.
    • The League Secretary or Committee Member will confirm with the forfeiting team that the opposing team has been made aware.
    • The team who are entitled to claim the game will be awarded a 15-0 win on that week’s fixtures.

CUP RULES

TURBO MEMORIAL CUP

Wendy  & Turbo Memorial Cup
 The draw for the  cups is now based on the sections The A section will play in the Wendy Cup and the B section will play in the Turbo Memorial Cup
Normal league format rules apply. Players in the cup must have played at least 3 games before playing in the cup for your team. 
Singles  Knockout
Men’s and Ladies Singles knockout open to the whole league to enter
These will be played on the same night Venue Barratts Date see fixture
Random Pairs
Open to the whole league.

SUPER LEAGUE PLAYERS

  • Super League players can join the Friday Night league if they have played for Super League, they will no longer have to have season out, but cannot transfer from one league to the other, i.e., players are to make a decision and choose a league to play for. This will be subject to Committee review and decision

OTHER RULES

  • All Committee member and players to be always treated with respect.
  • Any abuse, misconduct or disrespect to any individuals or the league will not be tolerated.
  • In the event of a tie in points, winners will be decided on legs won over the season, secondly on the results between the teams involved, thirdly a play off on a neutral board.
  • Objections of any nature must be made by the team Captain in writing and will be investigated within 7 days of the objection.
  • All disputes will be settled by the Committee – the Committee’s decision is final.
  • It is the captain’s responsibility to notify the team of the dates of the AGM where each team has a maximum of 2 votes.

ANYTHING NOT COVERED WITHIN THE ABOVE RULES WILL BE DISCUSSED AND DECIDED BY THE COMMITTEE
